Most of the SEO professionals seem biased toward older established sites. It may be faster to buy an old site with a strong link profile, and link it to your own site, than to try to start building authority links from scratch. Does this process helps in generating huge traffics?

You will get only few clicks from text links, so it won't help in terms of huge traffic, but you can buy some domains or websites with backlinks related to your niche and the also do a 301 redirect. That way all the linking power of that website will be directly pointed to your website.
