Thread: Heres a Scary Thought About Paid Link Building

I was talking to someone who hinted that google are quietly getting their hands on sites that sell links to further penalise sites that buy links
crazy sounding i know but what an easy way to find them out lol
dont have any details or proof so treat as hear say for now unless you know something different
anyone heard a rumour

never heard of it at this moment, but by selling link someone could leave a job and be a full time seller/link broker,

not seen anything myself but imagine the knock if google were to buy a big site then look at links bought like a major directory thast offer paid and free links then penalise all the sites that paid
with recent news i wouldnt be surprised if they did this

You know -- Once you step out of the distorted world-view of Google's bulls*t, I believe what they call 'paid links' is called ADVERTISING by normal people. Aren't Banner Ads 'paid links'?

Goog THRIVES on Fear. Uncertainty. Doubt. I PROFITS on it. Of course the unspoken 'Safe Rule' is that AdWords isn't PAID LINKS, It's the ONLY SAFE way to buy links. Buy AdWords links. You know so you don't get 'found out' and 'punished'.

I consulted the webmaster tools to see if I could find an answer.. I'll quote a few lines:

It surely can't be a myth if Google talks about it themselves. The webmaster guidelines are generally full of information that a site owner can use to make sure that their sites are not impacted by their scans and panda updates etc.
