I created a bunch of backlinks using the IM Web Submitter tool for one of my websites. Later, I went to several of the backlink checker sites. And they all reported no backlinks or very few backlinks to my website. I was surprised. So, does it typically take a while for new backlinks to become discovered by the backlink checker sites? If so, roughly how long does it take?

First I wouldn't recommend using website submitter as your link building strategy especially if your website is young.
This tool is made primarily for indexing, frequently indexing purpose + some additional backlinks as a bonus.
that said, you can click on each generated link when submitter creates pages and check if your link is there.

A couple of questions:
1) I looked through the IM Tools area and wasn't able to find one that addressed my question of how long it typically takes for a new link to get discovered by the backlink-checker sites and make an affect on my website. Do you or does someone else know?
2) I was also wondering, since I already used IM Web Submitter to get 1814 links for my website and therefore should probably expect a slap from Google, how should I go about generating links for one of my other sites? Generate only 50 from Web Submitter, 50 from another IM tool, and so on?
