Thread: Google +1 Button

Hi did you know about the +1 button. What is the purpose of this button, is it affect the SERP position of your website?

I noticed in blogger. It seems more like Facebook Like button. This works with Google Buzz. I don't think it effect SERP position or has any advantage SEO wise. Google just try to copycat Facebook features.

As far as I know, its doesn't effect SERP or something else. This feature is just to show recommendation to other users while using Google search engine. When the user see more +1 then they like to view that result/site more.

I wonder if they use this as a Digg function. But I'm sure this feature going to face huge spam attacks too.

it more or less starts to personalise your google results to suit you more
so yeh it could affect serps but in a roundabout way if everyone was to start using this and +1 every site they like then where would your site be if it was not one of them clicked ?

google are not stupid thats why this has taken time they are watching it closely getting others to click the hell out your site wont get you anywhere its actually harder to get a foothold than you think with this its not like digg etc
where it goes remains to be seen

ya it is right..I already see 2 to 3 website which having 2 +1 buttons. Does it spam?

They say it will affect rankings and it likely will in the short term as they try this out. It is too easily gamed though and will likely end up another dead Google project in time.

I see that on major sites it is not used at all by visitors in comparison to FB or TW

I didn't know we had one till recently. I logged into my webmaster account to have a look at our site stats and found that people have actually been using it, so I cannot complain. I went and had a look at the +1 page Google has up and they say the button is to be used to recommend sites to others that have an open Google account.

No one touches that button other than me. =]

I agree with you and i could not understand that what is the criteria of this.

I don't use it, according to what others say, its not very useful
