The Big G Strikes Again! Recent Google Algorithm Changes?

Hey everyone,

I'm sure most of you have heard by now about the most recent Google algorithm change. For those that haven't, here is a section of their post on the subject:

"Many of the changes we make are so subtle that very few people notice them. But in the last day or so we launched a pretty big algorithmic improvement to our ranking—a change that noticeably impacts 11.8% of our queries—and we wanted to let people know what’s going on. This update is designed to reduce rankings for low-quality sites—sites which are low-value add for users, copy content from other websites or sites that are just not very useful. At the same time, it will provide better rankings for high-quality sites—sites with original content and information such as research, in-depth reports, thoughtful analysis and so on."

Already we have seen some major changes in the rankings of some sites because of this. For most of us, this is good news!

For the content farms, the auto blogs and those that practice in stealing content, not such good news.

Personally, I am thrilled at the changes. I think a number of people very well versed in SEO forget one of the most important parts of SEO - and that is providing value to your visitors. Mix SEO with value and being a needed and sought after resource for people, you have one powerful cocktail.

Of course, I'm not trying to bad mouth the auto bloggers and content farmers out there. These things can be good if done correctly. But too often people steal content without giving proper credit, or spin content that produces unintelligible material.

For those people, Google says too bad, back to the bottom you go!

Very happy with the changes, and it's about time too! Too often a search comes up with a page lacking in information about what you searched for. Well done big G :)

I also heard about the recent google algorithm.Last time i read on google official blog.For me is good for people are struggling to make their web/blog seem so reliable to readers.Means no copied content.Original content

Thumbs up from me too! Before I go on with any SEO activities I make sure I have something that is worth finding in the first place.

So this way real blogger will get better ranking than auto bloggers. This will push webmasters to provide more unique content than duplicated stuff. Good move if you look from search engine users side.

I am happy at a side and sad too. Because few of my blogs are autoblogs and few are original and great blogs and even a original Gaming Forum. Although, Cheers !!!

What is good content to some is not good to others. What is quality ? There are some people who do take complete advantage,but there are exceptions. I have found information that is quite repetitive that some say is quality. I have read material that was an autoblog/feed that was quite informative. Google will lose with the change IMHO.

And what will happen to those article base sites ? Also I guess this will effect article submissions too.

Hey, any update that improves quality, and let's face it, where "our" sites hold strong or gain in the SERP's is a good update. I've noticed consistent rankings as well as many slight improvements for my sites and those of my clients, so I'm certainly a happy camper!

There is an interesting blog post by the founder of SubmitYourArticle in which he states that Ezine experienced a traffic reduction of over 1/3 when the new algo was introduced. Google’s “Content Farm� Update … The Implications for Article Marketing

For the moment this effects only Google.com but not for their country wise search engines. There was a official blog article about it.

yep, this new filter will partially reduce the traffic from Google and perhaps we'll get an "end" to low quality link building.
Some websites rank will suffer for sure

Really mixed feelings (and results) on this latest Goog update. My strongest sites seem to be doing better (with lower-quality competition pushed down, down the ranks), my newer & weaker sites are suffering for traffic - and I can't seem to get them to budge no matter what I do!

Ranking and indexed keywords have seemed to SHRINK overall - more long-tail stuff just totally shoved off the radar. So what you CAN rank for seems more limited. And overall, since many of the article/hub sites, auto-blogs and low-quality social sites backlinking to you may have been weakened - your resulting backlink profile strength weakens right along with them!

I know the forum users here are very International -- BE READY FOR PAIN as this rolls out to other countries besides the USA - because this Farmer/Panda update is the TIGHTEST NOOSE Goog has ever shown yet.

It seems Hubpage and other similar sites have been hit hard. These sites are taken as content farms too ?
