I have heard about this tool yesterday only and want to know more. What is actually the working of this tool and how can I get access to it? One site owner was saying me that I should remove his link from my urgently or he will report me disavow tool. I value your replies so tell anything you know about this tool.

Thanks for the link. How to use the tool? How to find out that which links are harming the site? I have logged in to my Google Webmaster tools, there was a small rectangular box that were telling about this tool and then there was a scroll box that had my own sites and beside that was a button DISAVOW Links. How to proceed now?

As I understand it if you have not been notified by Google of a problem with your link profile you have no reason to use the tool.

No, Google has never informed me of any problem. Some webmasters have tried to contact and asked me to remove their link from my site because backlink from my site to their site is harmful for them.

Using disavow tool is not a difficult task, but important is to analyze which backlinks are poor for our website and which are just fine which Google is not going to bother.

Yes you are absolutely right "wink0r". It will help you to remove backlinks for your website.

Some say it works some way google doesn't even bother to look into what you submit. I have seen bits and pieces of movement after disavowing for my friend's website!

Google will not notify you of a penalty unless it is a manual one they have implemented for something very specific I think.
