    Hi,

Gee, I hope I don't sound like a total idiot but...

    2) Brand name(if you don't have brand name put this: "yourwebsite.com" without quotes) = around 10%
    3) Exact URL you are promoting = around 10%

I thought we can't use url's in the supercharged bookmark tool??

Cant believe that the 2nd wordpress lost in the wind... because this domain getting very natural anchors varation.

Dont forget... Main Anchors can be Brand Links... so I think that brand links are very important to get this site rank well...

if the domain getting only generic links and money anchors.. without a lot of brand and URL links.. the panda will catch! Because it looks very unnatural.

And I clearly understand why wordpress1 is ranking on top... because this blog getting (in my eyes) only BRAND Links!

I bet this will looks all different when you using 100% hard money keyword like "credit loan" on the prekintrebalings domain.

SO IN MY EYES THIS WILL THE BEST:

60% Brand Links (Name of your domain + Name of Company/ Site + Original Meta Title)
20% URL Links (yourwebsite . com + www. your website .com + http:// www. yourwebsite .com)
20% Generic Links (click here + visit + website + Source etc.)

I will show you one of the best ranking site (German Goverment Website) in Germany with only natural Backlinks: https://ahrefs.com/site-explorer/ove...esregierung.de

    Look at this Linkprofile:

    60% bundesregierung
    15% www.bundesregierung.de
    10% http://www.bundesregierung.de
    5% http://www.bundesregierung.de/
5% No Text Links (Pictures, buttons etc.)
    5% Generic Links

My personal conclusion of this testcase:

If you build backlinks without any brandlinks (Name of your domain + Name of Company/ Site + Original Meta Title)... then your Link Profile looks very unnatural and spammy.
Thats why prekintrebalings2 on wordpress is lost in the wind! The Panda filter was activated. Because getting only 30% Main Keyword Anchors and for me is the main Keyword Anchor the BRAND LINK!!!

As i said "I suspect it works for this keyword because it is not well known/affiliate/competitive search term."
@ bunny, I think you are right(great observation), at least to some extent and I will explain.
In case with "bundesregierung" it EMD so it rank well for that, but we have problem if that site tries to rank for any other word,
I guess it will still rank, but not that good as it is for "bundesregierung".
So, as I said, we have problem, based on google EMD update people can't make EMD domains,
so they need to register something else and their brand is that domain for example,
now how they will rank for keywords such as "iphone reviews" or so with only brand names or domain names as anchors?
They won't, that is why I think we need to have keywords in anchors, maybe 60% is too much,
so I will lover that to 40%(to be on safe side) and add 15% to brand name and 5% to URL.
Remember that in your keywords we mix additional synonym/LSI keywords as well which are very important to have in your link profile.

    ---------- Post added 11-06-2013 at 01:31 PM ----------

Would like to add that for your root domain, I thikn it would be best you "put" more brand name in main keywords for anchors.
and for inner pages you "put" keywords you wish to rank for mixed with LSI keywords in your main keywords for anchors.
And I'm talking about this %:
    1) Main Keywords, Additional Keywords/Keywords Variations = around 40%
    2) Brand name(if you don't have brand name put this: "yourwebsite.com" without quotes) = around 25%
    3) Exact URL you are promoting = around 15%
    4) Generic Keywords = around 20%

    And one more thing
This is not exact science, some general rules can't apply, but it depends from domain to domain, from page to page, from search term to search term,
so it would the best practice to do your own conclusions and see what best works for you and your sites.

A great case study to see whats working in SERP :-) I jsu found that website 2 is ranking at #1 position in Google.com......run it through the ahrefs and majestic seo to found that it got 56% URL anchors and 16% primary keyword. This site does have wide variety of anchor text for its backlinks which really make sense after these many stupid updates from big G.

I have related this ranking of second site to my niche sites and found that whatever ranking I got for my site have approximately same pattern in anchor text. :-)

Thanks for reminding me about this.
As from the start blog 2 was performing bets, then it was all over the place...then now it is the only blog still ranking,
we again can conclude that this is the somehow % of anchors to work with:
    1) Main Keywords, Additional Keywords/Keywords Variations = around 30%
    2) Brand name(if you don't have brand name put this: "yourwebsite.com" without quotes) = around 20%
    3) Exact URL you are promoting = around 25%
    4) Generic Keywords = around 25%

Again, please note that every page is individual and general anchor plan or rule can't be applied,
so that said, take this as some kind of suggestion and adopt it according to your situation.

Thanks for subtle details about ANCHOR TEXT to work with. It WORKS :-)

If we do not know what to add as anchor text to backlinks that we built then this IDEAS will be life savor. In my opinion one must study anchor distribution of first 5 ranking site for the keyword that we shoot to rank for. Doing this will give us a fair idea about what works and what not.

Links are the base of the website development. In todays high competition, links are very helpful to make visible a website among a large number of website on Google.
