I think we all should LEAVE Google and not doing SEO for Google anymore as a protest against Google. We should all start using other SE or just Social Media and let Google just die. Then when Google see what is going on will change their algorithms in our favour.

It would be plain stupid move if they do this update.
How they can restrict people of having do follow links, ....but the truth is that they can if they wish to do so.
I'm writing about this for few years now, with every update and new tool released, they are manipulating with people as they wish, and people OBEY by everything google says,
and this is what scares me the most, reminds me of Germany between 1933-1941, very similar physiology and propaganda is used.

Nemanja, you are very right. I remember when i wrote on some good place that free lunch of Google traffic is now going to be over very soon. With all such shit updates and algorithms, you will see very soon you need to pay to Google to get even a single visitor from free traffic. Seobunny, i already started to shift my backlinking strategy towards nofollow and social media and it gives me already in safe hands but thanks for sharing.

I think its more likley that sites with a weird portion on dofollow to nofollow with get messed up. So if you have 3 nofollow and 30 dofollow you will get messed up..

In a recent video Matt Cutts (and other sources as well) seemed to indicate that ONLY A FEW PERCENT (single digit 2-3%) of *ALL* the internet's links are NO-Follow. So for all the SEO community's blather about this, very, very few websites have actually ever implemented No-Follow links anyways. It was nothing but a GAMBIT by Google years back to sucker people into it - and only the SEO technorati really bought into it anyways.

If this No-Follow penalty does come to pass - what? Google might get a few percentage more of the internet's links set to NO-Follow at best?

The sooner the SEO community collectively TURNS ITS BACK ON - and STOPS USING GOOGLE SEARCH the better. This is a game we basically CAN'T WIN over the long haul and our energies are best spent elsewhere....

Even their own Adword ads are Do Follow ! More or less Google want more people to buy ads from them rather than relay on search engine traffic.

Nothing official about this yet. Maybe they just want to stop people using doFollow affiliate links so those sites won't able to take advantage.

I am waiting for Google to ban Yahoo Paid Links, why they are still not penalizing them? if we see last updates then it is clear that Google is penalizing Paid links and Yahoo do same job.

So .. if dofollow links are banned and everybody changes to nofollow then how would google tell what is a good link and what is a bad link? Isn't this just going back to the days where links are just links without all this dofollow and nofollow bs? I don't see how this will help google get "better" pages to the top.
