Thread: What if you get a backlink from a penalized website?

What if you get a backlink from a penalized website? like you submitted your website link in PR3 Directory website but after Google Panda update it gets a penalty, what will you do?

In my case I submitted my website in instant approval Directory but now it has been penalized and when I ask them to remove my link they ask me to pay them $100... the directory is belong to India, I have complaint to Google for this issue and hope I will get a good response. I can mention the name of Directory here but don't wanna create problems for my website.

The situation which you have depicted is quite weird. But as long as you have notified Google, I don't see any harm for your website. Although if that website owner decides to do negative SEO on your website, then you will be quite helpless (and unwanted problems) then.

One backlink wouldn't harm you. Google know webmasters don't have complete control over backlinks. Otherwise competitors can just blast your site to those bad site using automated software and put you of out the game.

This is really true. For only one links google may not penalized any blog. But when already the site has get penalized then just need wait to solve the problem. Hope the problem will be solved soon

very true... The big G is smart enough to judge all those crap, else negative SEO would have killed the competitors.
