How do you keep up to date on all your sites?

    Hello all.

I have now just started to scratch the surface of SEO and IM. I already now see that keeping up to date on what I have done and where I have submitted what is getting harder to keep control over and what to do next.

Do you have a system or some trade secrets on how you keep everything organized?
I know some have tens and even hundreds of sites to keep control of.

Not much response to this one. I guess I ether ask about something that you think gives you an edge and don't want to reveal or I just phrased the question bad. I hope the moderators will allow this clarification post, Is not just for bumping.

When you start a new site, do you have a checklist of everything you have to do?
Do you submit article and post to the same directories every time and more or less in the same order for each site?
And do you use an excel document or other tools to know what to do next for a given site?

I have tried to add documents for different stages, but some are in Dropbox and others in Google docs because I can't make up my mind whats the best way to do this or what format to use.

If anyone would like to share their experience, it would be great.

    Thanks

    Endre

I guess the easiest thing to do is have a checklist of what you need to do for each site and have some kind of calendar of when you have to do repeated steps, i.e. posting some more links

I think, at a time you are targeting too many sites, it would lack focus........ focus on one site first.

Yes, as already suggested you can use Excel spreadsheet to keep track of the submission and having a date submitted column. This can help you look quickly when you made the submission and to check if it passed through.

there are multiple programs to help you keep track of you sites. I use a website called micrositemasters. This keeps records of up to 30 of my websites at the moment. Great way to keep an eye on multiple amounts of websites.

Yes, I think that the easiest thing to do is to have an excel sheet with all your logins etc on it. You should also have a folder on your desktop so as you know exactly where to go to get things.

The best way to update your website is to have a scheduler and think time to plan and organize it well. Use spreadsheet to encode all the data and can be access all the time through the internet.

I use openoffice spreadsheet (free opensource office software for mac) and save in dropbox to access anywhere from any computer. Then, I have about 40 columns with tasks like rss subs, dir. subs, press release, backlink pyramid 1/2/3, etc..., video subs. Rows are the sites with login/pass of associated gmail for the mini sites. On other tabs, i have the same rows and then columns are different sites within each link type (ie, video sheet - youtube, vimeo, Dailymotion, etc...). Then, I just check them off and list the urls. I'll concentrate on 5 or so sites at a time. Fun stuff...lol...

managewp.com is an awesome web-based tool that lets you manage all your WP sites from a single dashboard. If you have 10+ sites, this tool will save you a lot of time. As far as keeping track of link building, keep a log of everything you ordered/did for each site. Organization is key.

I am surprised if you are handling hundreds of websites, one who is expert SEO will not go with hundreds of website to optimize and organize, unless he/she has a team of SEO Experts.
