Thread: Flash page can harm SERP?

i don't know it is myth or what because i never try to put flash content on my site, but is it true if you put flash content it can give great effect on ranking?

I don't think so. Its good for interaction with people, but crawlers cannot read the code so it cannot be optimized.

i think the same way, flash content can't be part of SEO optimizing, but if you put flash content, for sure it take time to load the content, which is i think not good

I think it depends on the file size for that. It won't harm a site, its just not a good seo wise.

i read a lot if your site is too slow and take much time to load, it will give effect also on ranking

There are times and places where flash is useful, but the home page is generally not one of them. Imagine the frustration of a visitor with a slow connection that waits for a fancy flash entry page to load only to find that he must CLICK HERE TO ENTER SITE. Flash content can be mitigated to some extent by using <noscript> tags with a description of the flash content. The contents of the tags will only be shown if the necessary plugin is not available, but search spiders can 'read' the content.

do you mean it works like alt tag for images? at the moment i have no intention to put flash content, but if yes i'll shoot you a pm and ask detail about it

so your site is full of flash content? i mean when somebody reach your website, the flash content need to be loaded first, so how you improve loading time

If you have an Flash site without text content... it will be very bad for your rankings!!!

Google Bots cant read Flash files...

So if you have an Flash Site you must also add an 350-500 words Textcontent

I was thinking the same.

You can imagine if google doesn't see any normal text content it's bad for ranking.
In the past lots of websites had their content all embedded in the swf file, which cannot be read by a crawler.

Flash elements are OK, if you don't overdo it.

if You use xml file to bulid Your flash site that can be crawled and indexed propetly, but pure flash sites is really hard to put in higer serpositions.

Now i come to conclusion that fully flash content can harm your SERP, but semi-flash content with add on text content will not harm the SERP, now my question is answered, thanks everybody!
