Exact Match Domain Name or Just Containing the Name

I have the option of using the domain names:

    editingproofreadingservices.net

    or

    editingservices.net

    or
    proofreadingservices.net

Both of these search phrases—“editing services” and “proofreading services” have a search volume that is equal—9900 global monthly searches. Both terms mean roughly the same thing, but target slightly different markets. For the purposes of SEO, and only taking into account the benefit and component of SEO that is contributed by having your keyword in the domain name, do you think it is better to cover both bases (“proofreading” and “editing”) with a domain name that combines the two keywords (editingproofreadingservices.net), or one that targets just one or the other specific keywords? In other words, if someone were to type in just the keyword phrase “editing services” would my site be equally effective for SEO if it is named “editingservices.net” or “editingproofreadingservices.net”—all other things being equal? So is it better to have an exact match of the keyword phrase to the domain name or just to have the keyword in the domain name?

    Thank you very much.

You could buy all three and redirect the single word names to the combined word actual site. According to information that I saw recently (video or blog post) Google would not have a problem with this as long as those names relate to the real site.

It doesn't really matter as much as you think. Just do the proper on page SEO and start strategically building links. but let me save you a little bit of work.

Proofreading services only get around 3K exact searches a month by ranking first you can accept around 1500-2000 visits, is it worth it? So only around 3k people type in proofreading services.

If you need more help talk to me

The more exact domain you have the better it will be raked.

But, too specific KW will limit your content.

I will go for boarder term if I see not strong competitor in the niche.

Exact match domains matter most when a site is young. Initially Google may ONLY rank you for your exact match phrase and leave you struggling for any other keywords for months on end. Just keep adding content and building quality links anchored with all your top keyword variants. Usually by the 1 year mark, you'll rank for alot of stuff and your domain name won't matter much anymore.

I still don't think it really maters much. Of course exact domain is better, but if you have good seo on your page than it doesn't matter trust me. A lot of sites rank for their main keyword without having exact domain. I also heard that exact domain has lost a lot of power recently. If you can get your hands on the exact .com .org .net go for it, but if you are unable don't worry to much. Take care of your on page and off page seo and you will be fine.

Exact domain name match is only one of the factor, it's not required to have exact domain match to rank well for keywords. I'd say overall impact in the long run of things would be less than 10%. Also with .net, .info or any other non .com extensions your visitor might mistaken and type in the .com version which end up on competitor's site.

it is really hard to get exact domain name.. if you don't get any exact domain name, what you can do just focus on on page seo and off page seo with anchor text that you plan to promote.... but no doubt exact domain do boost the ranking

This is a new concept that i learn... Do you do 301 redirect to achieve that?

Yes. A 301 redirect is in order in this situation.
