Many of you probably know that Google currently give websites a HUGE unfair advantage in the SERPs if they have the exact keyword they want to target in a .com/.net/.org TLD, or the local equivalent for a local version of Google.
However, what some of you may not realize is that some people out there unscrupulously try and take advantage of your keyword research efforts by watching what you search for in the domain search tools, and then buying the best domains.
For example, a year ago I started searching for exact match domains in the restaurant niche in Australia. I found many, many good domains available (both .com and .com.au). However, a few days later when I went to purchase them, they were all gone. And it happened to me over and over again.
Later, I did a whois search on these domains, and discovered that the domain company I had been using to search for the domains were snapping them up as I searched for them! I just couldn't believe it! Amazingly, this has happened to me over and over again, using many, many different domain search tools.
So nowadays, the only domain search tool I use and recommend is www dot domainsearch dot com.
Since I've been using this tool, I've [U]never[U] run into the same problem. But if anyone else does feel free to share in this thread.
