Thread: How to retain the ranking of top keywords?

I used some of the high searches keywords. They are fluctuating so much. For that keyword , One day my website is on 2nd page and next day it lands up on 4th or 5th page. I don't understand why there is so much fluctuations. Can anyone guide me to retain the ranking of the keywords??

Ranking fluctuations are common if you are midway through creating backlinks. Just make sure you don't stop link building suddenly.
Write some relevant content and create some internal links within your site, if possible create couple of backlinks to that supporting page.

I have been doing this. I write blog for the website, list it on search engines. But I can't update the content regularly. How I will know how many backlinks I have earn?

I think reason should be lots of algorithm updates and competitor growing up.
