you should use the canonical tag to resolve the canonical issue as well as canonical related error. you must be rectify from 301 redirection as well as canonical tag.
If you using canonical url to avoid duplicate content in your website, and it is also used for website redirecting.

Canonical Tag is an html tag which is very important for every website and webpage that helps the search engine or crawlers to understand about your real page or protecting from the duplicate content issue.
It is good to not to use the canonical tag on your website but if you have the subdomains for your website and the content is the same for the both then you need to use the canonical tag. If you have the canonical URL issue in your site, it means there are two sites for the same domain like with www and non www so SE spider considers it as two different URLs and that arises the duplicacy issue, so use the 301 redirections via .httacces file to resolve this issue.
You can either redirects all URL on www or non www version.
