Hasn't been for several years now. It's only worth submitting to directories that focus purely on your niche, and only then when you've had a good look at them to make sure they don't look spammy, are well indexed and look like they don't have bad backlinks.
Article , Blog Commenting , Forum , Guest Blogging are the best ways to create Link Building for your web site.
I don't think so directory submission is very effective for link building purpose. Then try to do other activities through unique content.
Not sure, I think the angela backlink is still works, but with natural and "naked anchor text"

Directory Submission is not good today, you can do forum posting, blog posting, for link building and ranking..
I am using Niche Directory Submission.
Directories are still a large link consumptions. I think too that Google does not make your website more valuable because it is listed in many directories since most of them are not active as other sites are. It means that there is not much new content in most of them. Better submit to more alive directories if you want to profit something from it.
No, today, directories aren't useful unless they are local (containing info about local businesses).

Yeah directories are now just a waste of time. Spend your time in some other healthy activity which can benefit you more.
Due to the increase of social media usage, they have become as the more traffic generating sources, to get into top first you need to focus more on latest trends and then follow the old patterns. I cant deny the fact that directories cannot effectively generate traffic, but you can submit in directories after working with the social media promotions. But they are still useful upto some extent, but don't post in spam websites as they will degrade your SERP rankings in Google.
