Thread: SEO versus Content

A simple question for the gurus. What is more important for the progress of a website on the internet, SEO or creating great content regularly?
To elaborate the question a little, suppose there are two blogs A and B. Both target general public as their readers. A stresses more on SEO, SEM, SMM, etc, while B puts more attention on the content they produce. Who will be more successful in the long run?
Please post your answers with some solid proof, reasoning or argument so that people like me can benefit from your insights "optimally!"

there are tons of content writer are producing great content but they are unable to get visible in search engine, without SEO content is nothing...

The question is for long term. If you keep writing good content that people want to read, the SEO will eventually come on it's own. If people want to read it, they will share it. You can have the best SEO tactics but if the content if not their when people show up on the site, they will just leave. Just my .02

The best is to have a mix, with both is is running like a nice couple, after wedding..... nice and smooth

I agree with this. Without relevant content there is no audience even if the website is ranking high, and when there is no traffic when even appearing on the first page, Google will start having second thoughts. Quality is good, but relevancy is even more important to attract readers.

You're absolutely right, but it's often hard to find the perfect soul mate!

I don't see any vote between SEO and quality content. Quality content is just a part of good SEO strategy. They both go hands in hands. With poor content and lots of SEO, you will look like a spammer, on the other hand, good content with poor SEO will not bring desired visits to the site, in-fact there are chances your content will be stolen and some other will get visits through it.

You're absolutely right. But we were talking about preferences. What deserves you attention more in a long term strategy?

Hey your question is really good.
As per my suggestion do both SEO + SMO. Yes, Content is KING of SEO and it's helps to increase your website traffic. But if your add strong, unique and user friendly / SEO Friendly useful interesting content and also do some SEO activities then it's helps to boost your website or blog traffic.


So, Both are equal important SEO and create SEO friendly content with targeted keywords.
