Hey, I found a website which provides free copyrighting service, that site is myfreecopyright.com

It seems like great free service to protect your website content.

It can check all the content that is copied or not. Check it with your blog!

It's a good advice to have some minutes for reading more about Canonical tag,
since it's like point of origin tag for articles, when search engines spiders comes.

CopyScape: used it on one of my sites, but some content is leaking, so without
legal procedures and e-mails for copy-pasting sites it's not an universal solution.

The title of this thread is a little misleading, and the service is almost worthless.

First, you do not need to do anything to copyright your content. As soon as you create it, it is copyrighted. If you think you need to subscribe or provide anything to a service you're being scammed.

Second, where this might have value is if there is a dispute about who was the first to create something. You or the copier. On the other hand, trying to use this in a court of law to prove you were first is highly problematic. You just cannot submit a hearsay file created by an unknown entity and say this proves I was first. The law does not work that way.

The story in that website about needing their service to refute a 'public domain' defense is pure bunk.

Third and finally, if you want real legal protection where you can prove you were first, and you can collect minimum statutory damages for a copyright violation (which is often the only real hammer you have to stop theft), you need to register with the US Copyright office. It is not that expensive.

Nice points you got there, but I think this service is here only to notify you when somone is copied your stuff, but you are right title of the thread is maybe little misleading.

is this service similar to copy scape ? how ever believe that Google has methods to identify the original one and the duplicate one, with google search engine, blogs/sites with duplicate content always go down.
