Thread: Newbie searching for a Shareasale guru

Hello out there, Newbie here without a clue I'm working on my first website trying to build a product page. I have an account with Shareasale and have attempted to watch their webinar. Problem is the sound keeps cutting out. So I can only guess at what they are trying to explain. I can't do the webinar by phone as we have no telephone provider at my very remote location in the wilderness and have to travel 2.5 miles away to try and get a cel phone signal. I need to learn step-by-step how to post products to my site, not one by one as there are a lot of products and it would take forever, but mass import. Is there a way to do this?
Need all the help I can get at this point

ShareaSale doesn't work like Amazon. It is more based around links and banners. I have good results using text links in review threads. I'm not sure you can import products like you can with Amazon. Some on ShareaSale have widgets but they are low quality form what I have seen.

It sounds to me like you are hoping for a product feed. If one is provided it is up to the merchant partner rather than the affiliate network. Then you will need the proper script to display the feed on your site. I have not dealt with product feeds as such. I do have several Amazon stores that I put up a couple of years ago before I had any idea what I was doing. They have resulted in a total of zero sales. People do have some success with them but you need to know what you are doing and you need to generate traffic by providing some useful quality content to draw targeted visitors to your site.

What kind of products do you want to promote on that site ?
Keep in mind that having too many products, too much variety, too non-specific, will only be a problem if you want to achieve something with that site.
Search engines will not be able to categorize your site and won't find anything worth giving ranking to...no relevance.

Doing SEO for this website would be an impossible task.

I've been told I have great content on my site promoting 3 season sleeping bags, backpacking bags, lightweight bags, mummy bags, toddlers bags, etc. Just need to get product links posted to a buy page so that people realize they can actually buy a sleeping bag thru this site. I do have merchant banners, but most people are blind to sidebar ads. I've checked with the merchants that have approved me and they both do product feeds. Just don't know what or how to deal with posting it. I guess I'll just have to do it one at a time slowly and agonizingly painfully get it done over time. Just thought there oughta be a simple and easy way to accomplish this task.

Contact the merchants' affiliate managers and ask if they can direct you to a software or script to display the feed.

That said, you will probably (almost certainly) do better with in context links and image links on the article pages than with a feed page. These links should point directly to the merchants page on the featured product (not the merchants home page).
