Thread: All About The Amazon Affiliate Program

I'd be interested in hearing comments from those of you currently using the Amazon affiliate program.

I'd heard bad things about it in the past, and so have always written it off. But it seems a good time to upgrade my outdated and not all that informed understanding.

What are the pros and cons of selling for Amazon? What say you?

If a specific example might help, I'm thinking of using them on a nature site.

I have registered for the Amazon selling programm and i use some links in a german blog. The clickrate is very small for me and nobody has bought until the last 4 weeks. Maybe it's the topic from the blog why the rate is so small. I dont know.

For me working is Adsense and clickbank and some own products.

Amazon can be really great. In most cases though it isn't so good. You have to do a lot of research, find out what is a hot product and really make your blog or website shine. You cannot make it too much of a sales page as this deters people from buying from you. You should have relevent information and have a nice, honest review. I put in a pros and cons list a lot of the time. Linking to the product on Amazon itself is something you should experiment with. There are different ways to do this, direct link, anchor text, buy now buttons etc.

The best thing to do is find a product, look for a good keyword, rank highly and have a blog that has informative, relevent information.

It does suck, but if you get someone that buys a lot of items under your affiliate link it adds up. Also if you have a site that ranks highly and sees a lot of conversions you could be earning just as much as any other affiliate program on CB for example.
