Thanks for the guide, I would say internet is full of information and guide, the thing is we have to implement it.

Easily make sure your KWs are in the Title tag, the meta tags, keyword tags first.

Then make sure the KW is in the first and last sentence and one in between.

Next have a heading with your KW in it and have it <h1>

Also put words similar to your KW within your copy e.g. if the KW is 'golf swing tips' then have a sentence about tips to improve your golf swing or even talk about the swing being the most important golf function. Make the words appear in different order and with other words in between also to make it look real. This helps in the new Google update.

The biggest mistake that newbies make when enter in the IM world is getting overloaded with too much information. Everyone should focus on one method and stick on it.

If we're really talking about mistakes to avoid in an "Online Business" I think you should leave out the SEO stuff for now.

The biggest mistake you can make in your online business is to start marketing and SEO randomly before you figured out what your "business" will look like and what the purpose of your business is. If your online business doesn't have a strong and solid foundation...it'll never get off the ground. Again, I find too many focusing on SEO only and thinking they have an online business. SEO is just a tiny part of it.

The second big mistake most make is...they're starting out in the IM/MMO niche and wonder after months (if not years) why they haven't made a dollar yet. If you can be successful in another niche you'll have something to teach others and it MIGHT be time to check out the IM/MMO niche for your benefit. Check your inbox...the competition is too friggin' huge to have a go at success in this niche if you're just starting out.

I have to agree. Most people start off with I want to make money online, read a random guru and have no clue of whether THEIR business model will add value to the web.

Plan out what you want to do first.

I have to add that I firmly believe in taking action. I never learn anything unless I get my hands dirty. But, I'm long past the days where I build without a foundation.

That's true. You should not optimize your site for search engine alone. Remember that it's not the search engine that reads your site but actual people.

Well, I would say SEO is quite important, but not everything you can/should do to in order to be successfull in online business. The best way is to combine different kinds of online promotion and diversification.
