Thread: Is it hard to build successful website?

This is something that every newbie asks himself.
Basically it isn't if you know what you are doing, but if you start in a wrong way, you sure are not going to make much money.

So you need to know the basics first so you can build good foundation for future.
Main thing in starting online business is planing and first thing you need to plan is around what topic you will create your website.
To choose your niche you need to know what is profitable with low competition in search engines. This is key point for future website if you don't do this right all your efforts will be futile.

After you have decided about your niche you should build a website with some original and quality content. You can use wordpress blogs they are really easy to install, manage and use. Google loves WP too, just use some custom template if you can it will help for your rankings.

I believe that free traffic is the best one you can get(am I clever or what ), so you need to have your website to be on google top 10 results for your main keywords.
For first page on G, you need some quality backlinks, so your next step is to build quality and your niche related backlinks, as more backlinks you build your website will clibme in SERP's for sure.

Now all you have to do is to monetize that "free" traffic .
Yeah I know it sounds to easy, but it can be easy to build successful website if you know what you are doing, or very easy if you can outsource all that work and colect money in the end.

The easiest and without cost way would be to go to google and do search on your keywords, if you see ads(adwords) for that keyword, then this someone is biding for that term meaning that there is something that you can sell, also you can check affiliate and other networks like CJ, clickbank, linkshare to check if there are products you can promote on your website.

Next thing that you need to do is to see what amount off competition you have, to do so you need also go to google and conduct a this searches:
allintitle:"your keyword"
Check the number of results returned by google and analyze it :

Competition of less than 50,000 - very easy
Competition between 50,000 to 100,000 - easy
Competition between 100,000 to 200,000 - advanced
Competition between 200K to 500K - hard but doable
Competition of more than 500K - hard

This numbers are not something you should stick to, you also need to analyze first 10-20 spots in SERP's for your keywords, that way you will have better pisture what it takes to be in top 10

Now calculate possible sales from visitors you can expect to get for that terms(use this https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal) and amount of time and/or money invested in that project and you will get the picture if this is profitable niche for you.

It is not really hard to build a successful website. One thing is for sure. A successful website is built over the years. Success cannot come overnight. One has to be very patient before achieving success.

Yes it is true, nothing came overnight, it requires hard work and dedication, to build successful site you can expext at least one year of hard work and this is if your website won't be catched by google sandbox

Have not any website but I have blog. I am expecting to make money with it. Hoping for more progress. I think, blog is better than website. But blogs are only used to post news and to inform.

Blogs are best ways to start experimenting if you are new to this whole IM thing, because you don't have to waste time building it, just put some orig content and promote on regular basis.
After a while you will see what blogs are growing in visitor and you can push them and other can be left behin.

I agree with you. Even I use blog. What is the comparison of Websites and Blogs? Who will win you think? Blogs can grow faster and get it's popularity.

I think that in the long run website will have advance, if it is custom coded and designed, but this is not the rule offcourse we have great amount of successful blogs today.

I think its not easy to build a successful website but its not that difficult also. It takes some effort some courage and if you can pass those steps anyhow, you are through to the easy phase of building successful websites.

Some people like creating a site, which includes everything.
After you have some readers and pagerank, you can use google trends to see what you should write about next.
Some easy cash but as always, requires patience to get started.

I agree with the first part, but I suggest newbies to start from blogger.com first. It's simple and easier to use. If not money, people can get an idea as to where did they go wrong, or what more could have been done. Then take the next Step. Could someone please explain to me what exactly is a back link, and how do we create it?

yes it is really hard when you are starting of making a website and planning it to reach every people in the world. i should say, patience is one the factor that affects the website whether it is going to be successful or not. and theses ideas and tips given by our admin our the things we all need to know to build a successful website.

I think it is not easy to build any successful website but Interest, hard work and your involvement is important things for websites success.

It's not hard to build a successful website. I have built many and ranked on page 1 and postition 1 for many competitive terms.

What's important is you do everything at a quality level.
Quality domain
Informative and original articles/content
Good quality link building X 1000
Plus chose your niche market and keywords carefully

Follow those rules and you will succeed.

I'd like to add something about free traffic Nemanja mentioned.

Important: thorough research on PPC or just SEO on google points out that only about 4% of the total traffic comes from the PPC ads on the first page of google. That means the remaining 96% or so comes from the natural, normal links on the first page. So whoever tells you you should do PPC...don't bother too much. Ofcourse if you're in a niche market where most are definitely going to buy you could use PPC, but I would bet on putting in a bit more effort and use optimized SEO techniques for traffic.
