Thread: How can a website that does not sell a product, make money?

I wanted to start a blog/ informational site. I was curious as to how something like this could make money. I understand Google Adsense is one way.

Can you use Adsense with other banner programs?
Will search engine optimization bring in any direct money?
If I am not selling anything, is the only way to make money through advertising?

You can definitely make money from selling ad space, but you need to wisely choose a niche.

I agree, the key is to have traffic to your site, this will make people want to buy Adspace

You can use some CPA networks related to your niche..

I think Adsense and CPA are the most popular ways to monetize your site. You can sell ad space and links, but your site would have to be an established one. No one is going to buy Ad space on a site with hardly any visitors.

Make sure you find the right keywords to create backlinks and not just add content to the site. An automated blog gets lots of content if done right, but you need targeted visitors to make money from adsense or CPA networks.

Yes...the only way without selling things in my point of view is advertising through banners. If you have good PR website than automatically visitors will increase and will be ready to pay you a handsome amount for banner advertising as you demand.

The best way to make money online by a website is advertising. Put ads of different companies like their banners and links on your website and charge them for it. It is the best and easiest way to earn a lot by sitting at your home or office where ever you want.

Adsense and CPA are the ways to go. You might find that if you get a good CPA offer, you can make a lot of money if it converts well.

According to me the best way to earn money without selling any product is advertisement. If you promote other businesses on your website then it will be good for you to earn a smart package. There are lots of people that are working in the same line and doing very well in this promotion plan.

you can try amazon, CPA products, or offer people free advertising space for a month or two, once they realise the importance of that space, you can start charging them

If your blog is more informational then I would think adsense or some type of contextual ad network would work, maybe chitika as well. It might be harder to find affiliate programs that work with an informational type site. Selling ad space is another great suggestion.
