    Choosing domain name?

I am thinking to start a blog, I mean a website..
But I am confused to choose a domain name, I am good on SEO so I thought to start providing articles on SEO. I thought the domain name would be like to my name (like this amitbhawani.com) thats not my names its example, will it work, as you can see the domain don't tell whats in the website... The subject or the topic...
So will it do good or should I choose domain which is related to my website content?/

Some say that a website domain name should be specific to the niche you are working with. For you, it would need to be something to do with SEO articles.

It helps in more ways than one as well. It can show people what your site is about at a glance, and provides good SEO content for bots that will crawl your site to index it.

I think in future keyword domains might not matter a lot. I watched even Matt cutt guy telling that. Anyway if you are going to build a person blog then it's better take a brandable domain name. But for niche blogs it's better take a keyword domain name. It can give little weight on SEO.

I think you should relate your domain to whatever you are trying to do.

I would advise you to select a domain name that you'll be happy with for years to come. An exact match domain would obviously give you an immediate boost, but you'll find them hard to pick up in your industry, so just concentrate on a name that you can build a brand around.

If you are going to be writing about SEO, then I would have "SEO" in the domain name.

Here's something I wrote on another forum about finding a suitable domain name:

    ********************************************
There are plenty of generic domains available. Here's some help:
Let's look for domains relating to "HDTV".

    Method 1:
Go to the "Search Suggest" tool at imcheatsheets.com/memberarea/dnt/index.php
When I type in "hdtv" it days that "hdtvresolution.net" is available.
    There's 1 good domain name.

    Method 2:
Go to Godaddy.com and type "hdtv" into the domain name search box.
It will tell you that hdtv.com, net & org are taken.
But underneath will be some suggested names that are available.
    One of them is "hdtv-cheap.com".
Now I don't really like hyphenated domain names, but "cheaphdtv" looks like an interesting idea to work with.

Go back to Godaddy.com and type in "cheaphdtv".
It will say that cheaphdtv.com, net & org are taken, but it offers other suggestions that are not taken, including:
    newcheaphdtv.com, cheaphdtvblog.com, findcheaphdtv.com
There's 3 more good domain names.

    Method 3:
    Go to Nameboy.com
Type "hdtv" into the "Primary Word:" field, then click the "Go Nameboy Go" button.
It shows heaps of available domain names, including:
    hdtvdaily.net, hdtvedition.com, insiderhdtv.com
    Thats 3 more.

    Method 4:
Now I am on a roll, being inspired by some of the ideas from the first 3 methods.
Ideas are just popping into my head:
    hdtvinsider.net - available
    hdtvadviser.net - available
    hdtvadvice.org - available

Including these 3, that's 10 good domains relating to HDTV that are available.
And it only took me about 10 minutes to find them.

Pick a topic and try these methods and I dare you NOT to find a suitable domain name!

You will need to pick out some main keywords that you want to target. Best is if you can get an exact match domain on .com .net .org, but a lot of people also say others are ok to use as well.

I'd avoid using dashes between words, not because it doesn't work in terms of SEO, but I find myself not liking to click on www.best-hair-products-for-men.com as opposed to best hair products for men domain name for sale | Besthairproductsformen.com ... shrug!

Well, I think that it's not always recommended to include keywords in domain name. A domain name is one which can stick to the user' mind and also it must be relevant to your specific niche. There are lots of popular sites over the web which have no keywords in their domain names but still they are among the top in their niche.

It's good to have your website by your name that would surely describe half of its functions. You could add the details in the title or the welcome note. There are a lot of successful sites with the owner's name and people are fine with it. It'll be good as long as it has contents.

It's good to have your main keyword in your domain name. Keep in mind though, that keyword phrases are much more effective now and in many cases that would make a domain name too long. Your site will be indexed no matter what and having your keyword in the domain name would have only a small effect at the start (the first crawl), but in the end it's about content (...is my experience and I've been active in several high competative niches). Much more important is to have the title, meta desription and page setup in order. Google for one will check carefully if your content is relevant to what you claim your site to be about in your title and description. Not so much the domain name. For a blog it's important to have your keywords in the complete url, so it can be behind the "/" (post title, page title, etc.).

I would not advise to use your own name in your domain name...

Tip: don't use only one keyword (or phrase) several times per page, but also use related keywords. That would make your site a lot more important to Google. Use internal links to other pages, using several keyword anchor texts.

Well, domain name should contain the main keywords which you are going to optimized, domain name should be on .com if you managed to find it as .com is good from SEO point of view...
