Thread: How would you promote a web hosting site?

Hi,

need to know best and may be cheaper option to promote web hosting business?

i haven't yet tried adsense,
what could be other methods?

This is a very tough business for a small investor because many big players are spending millions of dollars for advertisement through different channels and competing with them would be very difficult without investing a good amount of money. Trust is also a factor that is needed which do not comes in this business easily because no one wants to take risk with their business website with new hosting company because it has been seen in many cases that companies has been closed and that also without any information. I think now you have a guideline to follow and make a strategy to make it happen.

I completely agree with aronmatt3 as I have experienced it myself with my friend that a company has closed and ran away with his website, whom we have trusted because of less money. Now, website owners are more intelligent to verify the company history before buying their service.

SEO & SMO can be the best ways. Adsense is not for promoting business, Adword is. Perhaps Adwords will ask for your credit card as you have to pay per click or per impression.

Adwords and Bing ads by advertising if you can spend money for your advertising campaigns. If you want to advertise without spending money then go to PTC sites and additionally post about your articles and blog posts on groups and pages of social networking sites such as Facebook and Linkedin.

I think Adsense is a way to promote others website on our site to gain money. Adwords can be one of the option, but it is quite costly for startups

Maybe you should consider offering some 0.01 dollar coupons, just like what Hostgator did.
