Thumbs up offline seo can be very cost effective

Hey guys just wanted to make a couple of points we all might overlook. I was so busy building my sites online that I overlooked how valuable offline work can be. For example, I attended a trade show this last week and just handed out some cards, shook hands and answered questions and I ended up with several hundred more visits to my site during the 2 days following. My sales doubled, which made me think.... so many times we work so hard to get random traffic and just those few extra visits by working offline doubled my sales for 1 week. I also noticed those people that I brought to my site through word of mouth stayed on my site a lot longer than the average visitor. I was not a vendor at the trade show just walking around talking to people so I had virtually zero cost invested besides gas and business cards.

offline work can definitely be better then tergeted key words. The way you handed out cards and met people created a closeness so they were truly interested in the service.

Absolutely, That's a great point. You would need a local market. I was thinking about that last night. I think a good lesson to take from this post would be to think outside the box for whatever your business is.

for me i think off line traffic are cost effective in comparison to online traffic though it works but how long will the surge last

    ---------- Post added 09-03-2013 at 08:46 AM ----------

then what about a case where by your business is just mainly on the net for example you are offering SEO service, how will you convince people off line on what you are doing?

If you are distributing your cards in a trade show locally in your city and getting traffic from your own local contacts or effort then it is a good way to build traffic but why do you call it offline SEO because SEO means search engine optimization and the source of your local visitors are the trade shows and not the search engines. Am I right?

you need to know where is your business is standing. More offline or more online.... depends on what you need to make the work. Like example a online shop which have no real shop, for him is offline work not realy important.

Great.. If you get traffic from mouth publishing, then it would be great for local business. By the way, Jeo congratulation for growth in traffic from mouth publicity.. Keep it up.

Can I ask what your website is and what was on your business cards? Just curious.

I do agree, though. I believe guerilla marketing tactics can be very effective and in some cases easier if applied correctly. Stickers, QR codes, and even lighters are great offline marketing tools.

My friend made a very good point when we taped white tape around his lighter and wrote his name on it with a sharpie. Within a month, all 8 friends in my group had handed down that lighter at parties and other times we've been together. Small items like that that are very cost effective but any person would find much value in can become very strong tools for marketing.

Other things that could be used are wristbands, t-shirts, and even magazine articles in publications that fall into your niche.
