Imgur for traffic?

Does anyone here use imgur to gain some traffic to one's site? I've tried it, but all they said was that I was advertising. I of course didn't make it interesting enough to showcase it, so I was wondering, does anyone advertise on imgur successfully?

If you don't know what imgur is, it's a image hosting site, but there's also a 'gallery' where users can share pictures and people can comment, upvote or downvote etc. I figure it could be a cool place to look for traffic, what do you think?

I have not used this site but I think you can get traffic from this image hosting site. The question is how will you redirect this traffic to your own site. I have seen this site and I cannot find any link of images to their own site. Please tell.
