In my five years of web design experience: The most and popular three common shortcuts are V, M and Space bar.
V is the move tool, M is the shape tool and space is the hand tool.
Once you design something with shape tool or design a new layer with M, then you have to move it with V then you have to place it with hand tool that is 'space bar'.
