Why most new forums fail ?

Hello dudes, Here I'm going to tell you some reasons, why most new forums fail badly. Once the admin of DP also agreed with these reasons. I think Nemanja will also agree. Read this and tell what you think about it.

1- Because of spam some forum admins give up
2- because of less threads and replies, some admins give up after sometime
3- because of no earnings from forum
4- less members or less active members
5- when the forum hasn't a specific niche - wrong reason to start the forum
    6- Failure to promote

according to statistics 99% forums fail. Share your ideas.

True. But if you have people that can actively help you work on the forum, then post count won't be too much of a problem. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to get a forum off the ground. I mean anyone can build one, anyone can ask people to add quality to the forum, and anyone can try make it a success, but only a few really become successful. Granted, there are millions of forums out there, and probably all of them popular to some degree, so if you're thinking of starting one, you could learn a lot from these successful ones. IMO its about the people that rule the forum. Your admin, mentors, mods. They not only set the pace, they create the atmosphere or people to post. If they are too lenient, then the forum will suffer because of spammers, if they are too strict, the forum will suffer because no one will post in it. Running a forum is pretty much like running a web site. Your product, however is a service towards the community, where you let people come together to learn and share. You don't have to have a full team from the get go either, even if its just an admin and one moderator.

You need to be tenacious, don't give up at the first signs that people aren't posting. Find innovative ways to draw people to our site. Make it fun and relaxed, and you'll see that people will find ways to spend more time at your forum, and you will have a success that grows in leaps and bounds. Like I said in a previous post, I was asked to help with a new forum that deals with web design, coding etc. I have tirelessly been adding Photoshop tutorials, tips and tricks etc. and I can clearly see that traffic is picking up. which can only be a good thing.

Now I just wish I had more time to work on a few other forums........

the problem with forums is people don't like to participate to small ones or inactive forums. What a forum need is active members and it is hard to find.

I think the biggest reason is Admins do nothing and believe forums will grow them selves. If you can start with Admin and several active members you have a good chance to get it going well. Also if owners need to invite people who can contribute. Also opening a forum with strict rules not going get peoples attention. 90% of people join forum to get links or find clients or market their products. owners have to weed out spammers who don't contribute anything and keep others.

Also when a forum has more and more interesting topic you get more people from search engines. Those people would stay if they find forum is active.

Incentives, such as contests or revenue sharing, can improve the desire to become an active member. The downfall of displaying how many are viewing each section is that a forum can look dead before even reading anything. It might be worth disabling "views", if possible.

mostly when there's no one to post new threads, forum goes down. I saw lot of new forums with very less topics. No one wants to participate that kinda forums.

I think new forums are in the progress in their own way. So it takes time to grow as a plant.. And I don't think they're failed. I just takes times to grow.

    7. Facebook and other social media is killing forums. People are wasting their time on Facebook rather than on websites/forums these days.

but according to statistics, 99% online forums fail. A successful forum should have about 1000 active posters, at least 500. This target is just a dream for many forum admins.
See digital point, they have more than 50,000 active members.

i think starting a forum not as a shortcut to the riches or for any revenue, but for a journey stuffed with joy and experiences which will leave you enlightened and proud with the information that you have accomplished so much more than you'll ever hope for. it has a platform to give you best & share your knowledge to learners & with needy ones.
