Does blogs rank in SERPs for a long time with seo practices?

For some tough keywords websites won't get rank in less time and takes too long time.
We will do social media optimization, directory submission, blog commenting etc traditional seo tasks to improve site appearance, to get more visits and to get better rank. But due to tough search engine algorithm some new websites do not get ranked when we perform all these things also. Then getting rank with blogs in less is bit easier because we'll push lot of content into it so search Ranking will be improved. Does it stays for a long time when we put more focus on blog?

I'll say NO, if you act up well you will rank fast but not for high competitive keywords

Nothing stays for longer, you need constant effort.
