Keep your wordpress websites up to date...

If you are freelancer/web designer then it is essential to you that we need to keep our WordPress website up to date. If you are update your website, then hackers are inserting black hat, virus codes into website header (wp-header), it will generate infinity bad links, weak links, broken links with bad words. That will decrease your website progress, defame your brand and increase weak back links.

I have observed it in our recent client's website, which is not updated since long back. We have removed entire site and designed new one.

Using a free theme also causes to such kind of problems, please try to avoid free themes and go for premium themes, any how we need to invest some amount to create, maintain and manage a website.

I agree with you updating is necessary for a website. If you aren't update the website you are giving the chance to the hackers to insert the virus into your website. So try update the website regularly and use only the trusted themes.

Also install security plugins such as Wordfence and Sucuri to help keep hackers out.

Some of the big hosting companies are now auto-updating WP if there is a significant security update.

They are offering tools like 'siteLock' but they are charging very high price for that. I am really scared you know. They have initially charged 60 dollars, later they said, from next month you should pay 200 dollars per month to scan total files. Oh my god...

Is that even possible? You shouldn't pay for that if you didn't agree previously.

latest wordpress do have an auto update features, so it will keep your version up to date.
free theme as long as it came from a trusted / reputable developer should be fine, for premium themes, better purchase.
the more plugins installed the more chances hackers find a way to get in (also the more plugins will slow the site).

Latest updates in WordPress is version 4.7.3
