Thread: Please Review My Logo

Hi

Today I have decided to show my logo to the world

I designed it in Photoshop and used the Pen Tool in Illustrator to trace it (for those who are interested)

Anyway, here it is:

I have a few questions:


What do you think of the color scheme, blue/black/carbon fibre. Or something else?

3d or not?

And any feedback, does it look good?

I like it. Perhaps the shadow is a little strong for my taste. But overall it is what a logo should be.. simple, to the point, a good reflection of your brand etc. 10/10. well done

Ahh, thanks. And what about 3d?

The 3D is awesome. Maybe tho, instead of having blurred shadow, you could maybe use a slightly stretched shadow of the actual 3D text? The concept is really brilliant tho, but I would add a little depth to the plain logos. Just MHO

Yeah, I tried to do that stretched thing but I couldn't get the path to bend correctly. I wouldnt say I'm pro at illustrator, more of an amateur

I think the 3d combined with the blue will look awesome, what do you think?

It would look awesome I think. Hmmm. What you can do is create the 3d in illustrator, and then import the finished image to photoshop and then all you need to do is duplicate the layer, colour it black, hit ctrl t and use ctrl to contour each corner till you're happy with it and the gaussian blur it at about 1 or 2. Should look perfect, even with the original 3D image.

Yeah I know I was just trying to keep everything in Vector. Oh well, I guess you can't win everything

If you save the psd layers, couldn't you then open it again in illustrator and save as a vector?

Or open up an image in Photoshop, warp it without blur, trace in illustrator and blur?

No worries.

That could work. I don't have much experience in illustrator to be honest. I could get a decent 3D using photoshop, but have been playing with inkscape a little to see if the vector bug bites.

I used to use Inkscape, that was back when Ubuntu was my OS. And yes it does say BC

I won't really go into illustrator if the bug doesn't bite. I prefer using Photoshop or the gimp. I use them for art more than designing to be honest.

Yeah, I will only really use Illustrator for logos. Making a web layout or something is unnecessary in Illustrator

I am prone to shortcuts though. I usually design a WP template in some WYSIWYG editor and then fine tune it on Notepad++ or summin. I can design, but unfortunately I am an artist at heart lol.

Haha. Shortcuts are the way to go

LOL I am busy working with a new app atm. Just working in notepad to get it tweaked. not bad for a first try. I would link, but its on a localhost. lol.

Now that looks good. You've mapped the light source perfectly. The only real thing i would change is the amount of the blur, so its fuzzy, but still retains its shape, and if its too dark still, just take its opacity down. Its more or less what I do when I add shadow to a manipulation. I just g/blur at 1.5 or 2, and then take the opacity down to about 70 or 60.

Ah its just a simple blog now, 2 columns, header, footer without too many bells and whistles, with a forum worked into it.

And that clean style is what I'm aiming for. I will probably post a new thread in this section when I'm done, I would appreciate it if you could help me out then aswell

Will do. you've got a really great idea going there, and its been executed perfectly. Not sure what I could do to help, but I can always give an opinion or two. Lol. I Make pics like my avatar, so logos aren't really my area of expertise. Lol
