I have had these sites almost a year now and my traffic is still very slow, any suggestions on how to improve them and make them more user friendly?? Thanks in advance.

Other than that make post regularly into your website. Share them in social media. Comment on other blogs and last but not the least build some backlinks. If you work for a consistent time frame you will notice positive results.
