When I give link in a forum posting, is it needed to ping or is there any benefit of pinging ?

I think there is no need to ping a forum posting because most of forum sites are very well regarded by the search engines and also indexed on a regular basis. But if you want to index it instantly then pinging is very much useful to you. It will give you more chances to cache quickly.

I think there is no need to ping because these forums have good reputation in search engines however you should share your post's link on social bookmarking and social media sites.

No need to ping forum posts. Forums attract search engine spiders like nothing else. So your posts will be spidered with 24 hours max.

I don't think pinging would hurt any but with forums constantly being crawled its a pretty quick process already.

Many prefer to ping, rather than wait for the bots to find their posts and threads on a forum. I guess it all depends on how fast a forum is indexed in the end. (I was agreeing with you by the way

if you want it to be dripfed, and found naturally then don't ping, otherwise if you want all your links to count, ping or use indexing services.
