One of the best ways to build links and bring traffic is by posting your link in the comments section of other related blogs.

Okay I'm not talking about spamming, but placing your link in the your website section. has anyone had traffic coming in

through this method?

There I have to agree. With Blog commenting as well as forums, one should always give something back. You are getting a link back to your site, or in the case of forums, many links, so giving some quality back to the blog or forum is a really good thing to do. it doesn't just make sure that your link remains on the blog or forum, but it also shows that you really showed interest in the efforts the poster went to while compiling the article or thread.

Exactly, having your link in the comment section of related blog helps a lot in achieving a good reputation and major search engines count it as one of the signals to rank the sites.
The thing is the blog must be related to the services you are providing and ,must be receiving good traffic.

So, what would be then the difference of blog commenting to blog posting? Just a query.

Blog commenting means to comment on others blog or giving a feedback to others blog and blog posting means creating our own blog.

blog posting means creating our own blog

This can also be guest posting on other's blogs or posting articles to a blog network.
