we all know submitting articles to article directories is one of the best and easiest ways to build backlinks to achieve higher ranking and getting more traffic. So, its generally a good idea to submit your articles to as many article directories as you can. While backlinks from article directories are good, not all backlinks from all directoires actually help you in SEO.

As you might know, there are tow kinds of links, Dofollow and Nofollow. Dofollow links are links that do pass the jouic and effect your seo, nofollow links dont. So, is best to submit your articles to dofollw article directories if you want a higehr ranking. Of course a link is a link. So, if you do have time, it doesn't hurt to submit to nofollow directoires as well.

Google has said that there is no duplicate content penalty, but Google will attempt to provide diversity on the first page of search results. They will still index the pages and your backlinks will count, but multiple copies of the same article are unlikely to show on the first page of search results. I have seen a search result where a reprint article on one of my sites was returned above the original article on Ezine in the search result.

Many article submission services offer an article spinning service. Some offer the capability to provide multiple resource boxes that will be randomly included with the submitted article. You want a diversity in anchor text links to your site and multiple resource boxes allow this. While you can see some direct traffic from readers of your articles, and probably more and better targeted if your article is picked up for reprint, the greater value of article marketing is in the backlinks and boost in page rank that article marketing can give.

The duplicate content that Google objects to is multiple copies of the same content on the same site. That is why they introduced the canonical meta tag. Their bot does not have to look at all the duplicate pages if you use the tag. These duplicate pages that may be included in the natural order of things include things like a homepage that can be reached by sitename/ or sitename/index.html as well as pages that present the same content in different formats such as mobile optomized pages or pdfs. For the homepage example there should be a redirect via .htaccess file as well as for the www and non-www versions of a page. For the other content the canonical meta tag would be preferred. If all pdfs are in a sub-directory a robots.txt entry to exclude that directory would work.

As wink0r explained perfectly, there is no such a thing as duplicate content penalty, unless the same content is on the same domain. Do you think if there was a duplicate content penalty, all the hundreds of article directories and social bookmarking sites that have the same articles that have been published on hunderds of other sites would be still alive?...

Dont just believe everything you hear, use common sense and always always check with the real source. in this case the best person or site to ask is Google itself. Simply use Google's official blog googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com to learn things you aren't sure about that relates to Google and how it works.

Re spinning...I have never "spun" an article I wrote. The end result of spun articles makes it look like a 3rd-grader wrote it. And I have seen many of my articles and web content spun by copy cats and it looks terrible!

Is their a way to spin and have it so it makes sense?

I usually change a few words here and there when I submit to article directories but basically the same article.

Some "spun" articles do look like "a 3rd-grader wrote" them. However, a carefully "spun" article may look every bit as good or even better than the original and the New Spinner - Spin a 250 Word Article In 15 Minutes gives you a tool that lets you review the article all along the process.

I use spun articles only for link building and regular articles for traffic, branding and link baits.

i use it too (cracked). But i want to try manual bookmarking, my fried say manual is better for beginer like me , by the way thanks for sharing this bookmark satrap

Hi...I think I am bit late to reply. Nice list of article directories but as i seen several times, buzzle use to delete those articles which have self promotional link. I think I have lost more than 15 article just because of this issue.
