Well, I guess the right answer is: "It can't hurt". What I do (something I picked up in a thread in WF), is to use 5-6 articles as anchors, and then link all the others to those few. They of course link to my site I want to promote. Seems to be working pretty good.

While their has been a lot of prominent sites (even Ezine) taking a huge knock from the recent algo, I still think article marketing is a good idea. I mean yea, you won't get all the traffic you want to, but you at least have your company out there and people can tell a lot about you from the way you write. if you keep your content fresh and unique and speak honestly, sharing experiences or sharing information you actually have experience from, it could add to your company integrity and in the end, help people to trust you more to buy from you. I have articles at Ezine, but I am not going to jump ship because the new algo has everyone on the run.
@HenryJ, winkOr actually made a pretty good point. The new algo is called its "farmer" algo. Simply because its targeting content farms, or sites it considers content farms.
yes it is still worth it, the articles was never about who reads them or who finds them it was always about the backlinks.
If Google lists a site as a content farm, your backlinks won't be worth much and that could be damaging to your site. Remember a lot of these sites are still considered as authority sites because of their domain age etc. But when Google slams them, they automatically slam any content and links on that site. Which is why people are panicking. If an authority site loses its authority, then a quality backlink is downgraded to a normal backlink, and it can effect the way your site is indexed in the long run.Quote:

I'm sorry to disagree with you. it's not about whether or not your content is unique or not. The algo looks at sites that are similar to ezine. If you have submitted to an article directory like ezine, Google may see it as a content farm.Quote:

I dont like Pressreleases or article releases... cause some sites have tooo many external links... so you dont get 100% linkpower when you puplish a post there..
there are some rules there..
- use only sites you can add anchortext links
- check if its dofollow
- check all external links.. how many dofollow external the site have.. too much.. not good
- use only sites who post all new releases on site 1.. and its better when these sites have high PR
- dont release on sites with adult articles.. I saw there are many..

Article marketing is not at all hurting your site if you place quality content on your site but it is still showing same results as earlier...
Recent change sin Google SERP Algorithm hit those article directory where we use to submit articles...
Now tell me which site you want to rank your Main site which is getting backlink from article directory or Article submitted to article directory...
If youw ant rank for first one Article marketing is still the best, but if you want to rank for second then google algorithm change is something you must be worried for...
