Contributing to tutorial sites for some benefit?

Hi, guys. It's often recommended to contribute quality content to tutorial sites like eHow, Wikihow and similar ones. They are advised on multiple popular internet marketing blogs as good traffic sources. But I can't figure out how on earth are they considered as profitable if all the articles you find there have no links to the websites of their authors. What's the benefit to write for those places if they don't allow links to my blog?

May be you know some good how-to sites to submit tutorial articles to get traffic and back links from? I'm most interested in those that belong to internet marketing and health niches.
    Thank you.

Youtube is best if you are talking about video tutorials and from youtube you can also have a good and high quality backlink. There are some more video sites other than youtube such as Vimeo and Metacafe and many more.

there are other high authority sites that will allow your link in such submitted articles. sites like ezineraticles, gooarticles etc do allow you to post links but it is highly moderated.
