The title of your website must contain your major keywords. The title is the biggest ranking factor of Yahoo's raking algorithm!

Yahoo! actually does evaluate the meta keywords, unlike google.
Other than that I believe it's the same.

I use Rankchecker in Firefox to check rankings...it shows google, yahoo and bing.
So you can see the effect of your SEO efforts in all 3.

No need to do seperate SEO for Yahoo !.
It goes without doing anything specific for Yahoo!.

I do think Yahoo! is paying even more attention to relevance though...
That's maybe why you've always got less indexed pages than on google.

Google indexes more pages because they can. They have the best infrastructure, more bots and more capacity than the others. They have also learned how to focus on content rather than the whole page allowing them to index more pages.

Google was built on search. Yahoo search was built to support their portal. Bing is MicroSoft trying to keep up with the Joneses.

Never had much success with Yahoo. So now I use a different method. I use Yahoo Answers. Those Yahoo Answers usually rank better in their search result so I get all the traffic I want through those Answers.

Absolutely spot-on On-Page optimization does well with Yahoo-Bing.

Your NICHE will really determine how well you do traffic wise. There's just a HUGE demographic difference between the rather younger, techie and web savvy types that gravitate towards Google - and then an older, possibly simpler, less sophisticated surfer like you'll find at Yahoo, Bing, Ask, etc.

Seriously, I've seen this time and time again: Things like SEO, high-tech, computer product niches are overwhelmingly dominated Google - often 90% or more - while other lower-tech things like books, and gardening, and tools, and health products, cooking and more common household items seem to have much better traction with Bing-Yahoo.

i totally agreed with andre, just focus more what you do in SEO, don't ever care about SE, just do your best first..make it perfect as you can... then all spiders from Yahoo, Google, Bing will come and index your site, if your site get attention from Google, for sure the other SE crawler will get notice too

Everything you would do to optimize for google, you will also want to do for bing/yahoo. You will also want to implement microdata sitewide and submit your rss feed as a sitemap. You will also need to set up bing webmaster tools. Everything else is pretty much the same as google.

You don't really need a guide for Yahoo optimization. Just do everything you would with Google optimization plus the above things I mentioned.

    Wrong !WRONG! WRONG!

You need different optimization for BING / Yahoo. I always use IBP optimizer and every time if you need rank pages high in yahoo, there is a a differences.

How to optimize your website for Bing

Google and Bing return different websites for the same search query. That means that they use different ranking algorithms and that it is difficult to optimize the same page for both Google and Bing.

Three reasons why it makes sense to optimize your website for Bing

    1. There's less competition on Bing

Most webmasters concentrate on Google. It is easier to get high rankings on Bing because fewer people compete aggressively for the same keywords.

    2. Millions of searchers will find your site

As mentioned above, Bing currently has a market share of 30%. That's just half of the market share that Google has but that's still millions of people who might be interested in your website.

If you have just focused on Google then you can increase the number of website visitors by 50% just by adding Bing to your search engine optimization activities.

    3. Bing searches deliver more click-throughs

According to the Hitwise data, Bing powered search engines achieved the highest success rate in March 2011. More than 80 percent of searches executed resulted in a visit to a website.

Google achieved a success rate of 66 percent. It might be that the search results snippets in Bing are more attractive or the results in Bing are simply more relevant.

1.Make your website user and SE friendly, using text links instead of javascript, make it neat and make it with structure.
    2. Yahoo does particularily like rss feeds from sites, so if you can include an rss feed for your site which you can update.
    3. If you like to build links, then build backlinks just as you would normally, in a sensible manner.
    4. Submit some QUALITY articles to article directories.
    5. Keep updating your content.
