Major difference is google has earning programe like adsense and it provide online earning opportunities while yahoo offer any financial opportunity..
and google is favourite as it sends more traffic

I not agree with you Yahoo and bing have also their advertising program yahoo publisher type.

Google is no 1 search engine and no one still reach the google ,

google crawl site urgently but yahoo and bing crawl the sites very slowly

If you’re asking it in terms of company then danilion55 answer already represent what I want to say. But if you’re asking about it in terms of search engine functions than I can say the major different between Yahoo and Google is their algorithm. It’s not easy to explain about their algorithm except the public secret that Google have more accurate search result. Hope that help.

I think the major different is an algorithm of search result. and i love google, google is my first fav search engine

Google is strongly associated with simplicity, usefulness, pages that load fast and Yahoo is connected with rich interfaces, complex designs, pages that load slowly.Google simply dominates that traffic that I receive form the website. This does not mean that people do not use Yahoo, Bing or other Search engines. I think 80% Internet users use google search and 20% users use yahoo search.

From an SEO standpoint, there are a few things different from bing/yahoo's indexation when compared to google. With google, you can get content indexed instantly whereas bing/yahoo takes about 2 weeks at the quickest. Bing/yahoo also places a lot of weight on microdata. I ran tests on this recently, and found that microdata makes a HUGE difference in organic search ranks in bing and yahoo whereas google showed no effect. Another thing bing places a lot of emphasis on is rss feeds. If you submit your feed as a sitemap, you will see better results. Bing also gives you a slight boost just for setting up bing webmaster tools, whereas google places no weight on having GWT set up.
