Thread: Why is it so hard to get listed in Dmoz?

It is not just the opinion or review or comments I read in so many places, but I and my colleagues have same experience. I wonder if this is due to most editors are not doing their job by review and approve the submissions. You know there are good and genuine websites are not listed despite submission there. It is definitely easier to get our websites listed in Google, Yahoo and other search engines.

DMOZ uses volunteer HUMAN editors. They generally have a backlog of sites to check.

Getting listed in the Dmoz directory can take a very long time. In most cases, it can take up to one or two years (assuming you actually get approved). Personally speaking, I don't think that you should worry about it too much. Dmoz has lost its importance over the years and directories are a weak form of link building in this day and age. Submit the site and focus on other SEO efforts.

All my site not listed in Dmoz, but I don't care about it. Many TF come from Social network.

Dmoz has been closed now and resource-zone dot com has been running in the place of dmoz.
