Xml site map contain the URL of web page and help to index web page in search engine.

Using XML sitemaps for indexing in goolge is a good idea.

Using both sitemaps is important. And doing an XML sitemap is not difficult so don;t avoid making it.

It's vital - google loves sitemaps.

Sitemap.xml is useful to describe the site navigation to spider. The search engine bot can know about all the pages of your website through sitemap.xml.

I've recently been working on a new site but am eager to set up a sitemap for my indexing and navigation purposes. I have already created a XML Sitemap and submitted it to through Google Webmaster but am not sure how long it takes for Google to crawl my site. I know Google bases it on popularity of the site but I was curious if when Google ever does visit my site, will I be able to check by typing my domain-name.com/sitemap.xml??

I know I'll be able to check by searching through Google and using the site:domain-name.com method but I'm not sure on what else I can do to make sure I went through this process correctly, I'm still new to all this.

Any help with the steps needed to complete this process would be greatly appreciated!

In addition to having sitemap.xml file you should also instruct spiders that it is there and where to find it using robots.txt file in the root of your site. Search around how to do it, it is really simple. Whether it helps a lot or not is hard to tell, but it was simple to set up so I did it. Every single bit helps, right?

If you're using WordPress try the Google XML Sitemaps plugin.

How would you submit a sitemap from Business Catalyst to Google's webmaster tools? I've tried this a few times and the submission keeps failing.

gives google best oppurtunity to crawl..
