Thread: What are the common SEO mistakes?

I have a site of my own related to Islam. I am trying to develop it's page rank. But I have to know the mistakes that I can make. Can any one give a basic knowledge on it.

Hello. I can tell you some basic I've committed: place many backlinks in a short time, repeat the anchor text and link only to the home. There are many more, but these are fairly common.

As for the SEO onpage, repeat the key words is common, and the lack of original content. A proper plan of internal links that improve usability is also good.

Maybe, instead of focusing on mistakes, you should focus on the techniques that work, so you can develop your own style and techniques that work for you. I created a thread a while back from a "course" that seomoz had online that teaches you everything you need to know and then some.

Read and follow multiple seo newbie blogs. Check my signature and don't believe everythiny you read on the net.

Here is the list of common SEO mistakes which will help you for improvement :

Use of improper or most competitive keywords
Not include the title and meta tags in the web page
Web content is not up to date
Back link Spamming
Keyword density in not proper
Internal linking between web pages are not proper

Keyword Stuffing is the most common SEO mistake that I normally make..

The most common SEO mistake for beginners that I have seen is putting the keyword in too many times. Google will class this as spam and not rank it very highly

one of the mistake is to have pages with no text only image that contain embaded text

1. Keyword stuffing
2. Non optimized images
3. Changing tags, keywords titles
4. meta description is not the place to spam keywords, it's the place where you put invitation to your site
5. focusing on only one or two words. think about sentences that people would write on google
6. site filled with crap = slow site = lower ranking
7. spending more time on webforums than working with the sites/blogs (guilty as charged)

Writing for Google rather than the reader leads to difficult to read text that may contain unnatural use of keywords. If people who visit leave your site quickly (bounce) that can gave an adverse effect on your ranking.

make XML Sitemaps and join google webmaster your site will be indexed and get more traffic

don't stuff extra keywords
don't make spamming backlinks eg through help of **** videos or links
don't add unrelevant content

Thank you. I do it sometimes.

- Keyword not in Meta Tags.
- Keywords Density either too Low or Too High or sometime keyword is not exists in Body :P
- Missing of Sitemap.
- Creating Nos. of Dofollow Links which will hardly affect your Rankings.
- Over backlinking
