Is there any likely negative issue from introducing a keyword to an image that in itself has nothing to do with the keyword?

e.g. ALT:"happy senior couple have financial security" if the image is just a smiling senior couple and the keyword is "financial security"

i think your Alt tag should be same with your keyword and then it will be helpful for your website, however it is not a complusory thing for seo it is an essential thing.

You should probably put the image ALT tag the same as your keyword, therefore increasing your SEO efforts and maybe the image will appear in Image Search Engines for your keyword therefore getting you more traffic

Yes that is Very Essential to Put in Image helps in SEO much as i already use same as Described above by scoop, It Bring lots of Traffic to me...
As Right now i am Placed in top 5 with keywords like 'banner' and 'Banner Design'...
I can See in Analytics that Website getting too much Traffic from there
