In my opinion it definitely effect to our website mainly in serp rank, it may possible you can lost your ranking in search engine. Optimizing them is important. However, if your site is live on the Internet, even if it’s not optimized, you need to make sure to have unique title tags and meta descriptions on every page.

I don't think so if you want to improve your website then hopefully you will get good result but keep in mind that research and right keywords selection is the key of success therefore before change you tags you should do home work.
