I have a two years old shopping site, and now i am planning to enlarge market, so i need experienced SEO expert advice, especially those familar with zen cart system , if you are expert in this area, pls PM me, we may work together and share profits.

It will probably take a lot of time and effort, because of the immense competition for shopping sites and portals.
I've though about creating a shopping portal, but I decided not to.

Shopping site kind of big competition you need to face, you need to fight with giant market there such as Amazon, Ebay, Yahoo shopping and so on.But don't give up, where there is a will, there is a way. First think first i would say your SEO foundation must be so eligible to fight with others shopping site, maybe you can use SEO Spy Glass to get clear view what are your competitors heading for SEO :)
One page at a time. Research your keywords for one product, pick out a bunch of long tail keywords for it, run a structured backlinking campaign (this is important to work out from the start) and then move onto your next keyword.
I would say that take help of only seo expert because they know which sites are good for bringing traffic and if amateur seo want to work with you than first ask all the question regarding SEO because this is for your website ranking.
Target less competitive keywords firstly. If you have analytics set up, you should be able to see what queries people are using to find your site currently. Would be useful to do some keyword research around these terms to see if there are any slightly more competitive keywords that are in your reach. Build this up gradually.
This all depends on what you are selling. Some areas are naturally more competitive than others.
