Thread: Internal Linking and Link Pages

I have a quick one. I have a reciprocal link setup between my two of my link pages and all of my site pages. Inturn my links pages are all pointing to my home page. There are four total.


What is the best way to maximize PR to my home page? My site has over 150 pages.

In order to maximize PR following things are to be considered

Unique content
All sub-pages must link back to the home page
All category pages must be found in home page and it must link back to home page
Create sitemap
Do link building for every pages particularly starts from home page. Build links from high authority and high PR websites.

You'd better browse around in this forum section, because there's many threads explaining techniques to get your rankings up.

Check in google how many of your pages have been indexed like this:
site:yourdomain.com

Build backlinks to other pages than just your homepage as well.

There are over 200 factors that Google considers while giving a PR . I somewhat agree with Hogward but in addition you have to check your Meta tags, images and also like page speed and authorization.

Make sure anchor links are the first reference to that url, don't have "home", image link, or whatever to the home page if you are trying to rank up home page using internal link for anchor text.

Many people do say PR is important, but many people also say it isn't. It's become a huge debate between the two groups on how important PR is and how it effects the SERPs. Matt Cutt’s made a video that states PageRank is still important, but we should not get obsessed with it: “PageRank while important, it’s one of the most important out of 200 signals that we have, is still one of only 200 signals that we use in ranking.”

Content, relevancy of all pages of your site, relevancy of internal links, relevancy of websites where you have backlinks from, relevancy, content, relevancy...
Also easy navigation for the visitor, sitemap, design to a certain extend, etc...

Many factors, but PR is important for your ranking in the search engines...especially in competative niche markets.
Pagerank means google finds your website "important" for the targeted audience...

i got your point andre, if i have health site, then i got backlink from PR7 travel site, so Google will never counted this kind of link as important to targeted audience?

Exactly. Ofcourse any backink will eventually count, but google loves it when YOUR link is on an important (high PR) site about the same subject.

Hi All,

I know different ways to potentiate your home page and gain page rank for it:

- You can set "no follow" from the home page to the other subpages of your website and "do follow" from the subpages to the home page, so your home page is going to be supported from the other subpages in terms of page rank.

- You can put the new canonical attribut in teh code of your home page. This is going to say google, that your home page is the most important page of your site and the PR power of the subpages is going to be redirected to your home page.
- Focus on link building campaigns for your home page getting do follow links

You should also optimize those sub page where your homepage is linked because it will definitely transfer the link juice to it.

i was always backlink to my homepage but now i have to do it with my other page

so the conclusion that I catch every post should link each other?

Linking too other posts with related content will strengthen both pages, but you want content on the same general topic that provides more/different information.

Linking to other posts will help se spider crawl more deep into your site which is really good to boost up indexation rate
