yes, its possible if you mean website rankings. it can be measured by the age, popularity and contents.

Well I am sure most people do not agree to this, but ranking without Link building is possible.

About 2 years back I started one site and posted few article and left them to get aged, to my surprise one of those article got on First page of Google, and in few day it was o#1.

SO It is possible, by having proper Optimized content

If the long tail keyword is likely to succeed on one page without having to build backlinks is very possible. you just need to make a relevance to the keywords, also doing onpage optimization. but perhaps only for long tail keywords.

In the first I don’t believe people can rank up their site without link building but after hearing my friend experience, I believe you can do this. My friend only put his concentration on making good quality content + good SEO On Page.

However, this not always happen in every keywords. You need to check your competitor first. If they’re also having good content, then you still need to build backlink.

Yes some sites do rank well without much link building, only if your site has optimized with best of On-Page with Fresh and informative content. But if your site has lots of competition as keywords then yes you do need of link Building without that its quiet hard that a site rank in SE's.

It all depends upon the competition of your industry niche. if it is less competitive you can rank better even without backlinks. On the other hand if your industry is too much competitive then you have to go for quality link building.

It is almost impossible to rank any website without link building because there is a lot of competition in search engine pages and without good link building and on-page seo strategy you can't achieve your goals.

It can be done unless you are targeting an very competitive keyword phrase. For example I have 2 blogspot blogs for my hobbies. One for Discus fish and other for my compact camera. I don't do any link building or seo for these blogs but I do get traffic from Google and also get reasonable number of sales from Amazon too. Thought I wouldn't try to do it for niche like Homeloans or Car Insurance though.

Make it viral and you won't have to do a thing. You'll get the best natural backlinks and social visibility ever (ie, Chocolate rain!!). But, of course, making it "go viral" is the hard part.

If the competition is low then it is very possible. I have made many sites based around locality for customers, with excellent on page SEO and they jump to the first page pretty quickly. But to maintain good rankings and get the top position link building and other off page SEO is vital!
