Unique content???

Hi,

I've been searching for products on Amazon to promote. I always check the competitions' website if I find something interesting.

I found a good product so I checked the main keyword in google. Of course it coughed up a few review site already ranking on page one. I looked at them to get some info how they promote the product when I noticed that not a single one of them had unique content on them. All of them just copied the Amazon product description.

Google has been preaching about unique content for a while so how is it possible that these websites are ranking on page one?

Well, I won't give you the keyword I'm after so you'll just have to take my word for it. Just check some other products and you will see sites on first page with exact amazon description. If not on page one, then on page two

I think Google have many secretes and don't like to share with anyone, for example as you have mentioned that many sites have duplicate content then why not google is going to block them, may be after some time when google will notice it then give some response about it.

Yes, last days I have also experienced such sort of things.
I visited a blog with almost 0 content, poorly designed, but was on first page at rank 3!

Funily enough I have a website with a lot of content, but zero unique, and that website is one of my most successful ones. All traffic comes from google

There are always sites that will slip through the cracks since it is bots and not humans doing most of the checking. Chances are, either the competition is just really poor, or that site will eventually get penalized for that content.

if google cannot find better content, this is what it would display, which means there is a huge opportunity for you...

There's no penalty for duplicate content. If you promote the site properly then you can outrank anything with 'borrowed' content.

Very true but after recent panda updates, it will be very hard to rank duplicate content sites in future. So better to go with unique and fresh content.

Incorrect. I started my main earning site in February 4th (ie. before Panda) and it has 30 pages of dupe content, and it earns from Amazon and Adsense. It was just going to be a test (as I'm a content writer for a living) but it is working well. I do everything manually apart from build links so I think it's just autoblogs that have been spanked by the Panda.

I think the strategy of your competitor is promoting his product on his website as well as on Amazon.

In such cases product description use to be same, and you hardly can do something about it. In my opinion, such a content should not be marked as duplicate because you cannot rephrase or re-write description again and again.

The duplicate contents issues will never end.It is very hard to determine google ranking algorithm and i feel envy also when duplicate content website can rank better and also have a higher page rank.. but the point is, do you want to make money from other people's work? If yes, just duplicate everything you want and sit back and see what happen.. If not, focus the quality of your work, bring unique content and you will feel proud of all your effort

I agree regarding the autoblogs. I had an 1.5 year old autoblog site pulling in $1,000 a month with adsense. Google would send suggestions on how to optimize site. May 1st 2011, the traffic came to a halt. I checked to see if the site was indexed, it was gone. I have several other autoblog sites that were not touched, yet. Google took away the one making the most money and getting the most traffic.

both ways are not okay. I also did this before and stopped. Duplicate content has very less value on SEO
