Blogging - Do you have a gameplan?

Do you have a specific technique when you plan a new post? Or do you wing it mostly?

I've been thinking about it a lot lately when I work on our blog. I am the only one that writes on our company blog, and lack the general critique you would normally have working in a team.

What I generally do is look around on the net a little before preparing a post, to see what people are talking about. If it has anything to do with our niche or technology we use, I generally try build a blog post around that showing the pro's and cons and try give people something to think about, working through everything I have researched.

I would love to hear a few ideas about what you guys use as a blogging strategy. Maybe you could help me get more into my blog posts.

    A few tips:

    - use a good CMS, e.g. WordPress (1A!)
    - Use in the posts and pictures (with description!)
    - Posts sometimes with each other (out of the text) link
    and
    - link content directly to social bookmarking
    and last but not least:
    - write interesting, comprehensible texts.

Then comes the success (number of visitors that return ...)

    Ein paar Tipps:

    - ein gutes CMS verwenden, z.B. WordPress (1A!)

hmmm its a little bit secret but for you, here is my way to write a post for my blog!

I have almost 50 top web designs and inspiration blogs rss feed in my feeddemon software and when I am going to post a new story, i first look on these top blogs latest post to find out which is hot and common among these. After choosing the topic, then I do a little bit keyword research using market samurai and Google keyword tool to find such a keyword which is not only a competitive but also i think i can easily rank it for at least 2nd page of Google( Normally i am succeeded to rank all of my keywords on 2nd page of Google on my first phase of backlinking).

I always go for a unique title as unique title always make your story much powerful to rank. Also i try to use less stop words in my post title as more stop words you have, you will less changes to rank higher for your preferred keyword.

Also I use Google trends to get latest idea for new story and spyfu.com to find keyword power. Of course a keyword with medium competition and higher CTR is the best choice for me.

I hope this will give you some new idea to write a new post for your blog.

I use wordpress, the themes and layouts are excellent, and I do use imagery but not too many. I would usually have an image on the right hand side which is related to my topic, and I sometimes use descriptions. I really love it when people find my blog posts interesting enough to share with others. One of my recent ones was used as a related reading thread, and it felt really good that someone felt my little blog post was good enough to include in their post.

Some random thoughts on the subject.

The procedures that you have outlined sound pretty good for your situation. A company blog promotes the company and is more of an indirect traffic and sales tool. It is more of a real world 'about us' section setting up the company as a real authority in the area of your products, an image building tool. Provide information that will be of interest and value to your customers and potential customers. The company blog provides a personality to the business. This can make potential customers feel more comfortable about doing business with your company.

While you can and should promote new products or updates and outline company policies, the blog should not be all promotional all the time. Interesting posts with a tie in to the company or products, and an occasional post that is way out in left field will probably do the company more good. Address real problems with real, useful answers and the right people will find your content. Ten visitors that ultimately do business with your company are of greater value than 1000 visitors that don't.

I try do that most of the time. I address issues that many find with systems like the one we have developed. I try give people facts and give them the option to decide for themselves. My writing style as well is similar to the way I would talk to someone, so a person can feel comfortable with what they are reading instead of needing to look at online dictionaries.
